Google’s self-driving car to have an accident
Google has tested its self-driving cars on highways, where driving is fairly predictable, since 2009, and no accidents have been reported. Recently, however, the company has started testing the car on city streets, seen as a greater challenge.
Any Google self-driving car will be reported by at least three major media outlets as having been involved in a moving accident resulting in damage, however minor, to the vehicle in 2014.

Google cars already have gotten rear ended by another driver. Would that count as an accident? If the google car has to be at fault what is the criteria for determining who is at fault?

#2868, are you seriously asking if a rear end collision would count as an accident? "…as having been involved in a moving accident…". Seems pretty clear to me. Also, prior accidents obviously don’t count, or this bet would be pointless.

"since 2009, and no accidents have been reported"… not! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_driverless_car#Incidents
